Laelia

Some 75 species are known, most come from Mexico and the northern part of South Africa. Both plants and flowers are very similar to cattleya. Because of the varied conditions found in the natural habitat of these plants, some do best under intermediate conditions while others prefer cooler conditions. Laelia required a well drained compost as they don't like excess of water at the root. Most species require little humidity, cool temperatures and high light intensity during dormancy, watering during this period can be disastrous.
