Dendrobium
A large genus of over 1000 species, ranging from India and Sri Lanka then eastward to Japan and southward through the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Guinea to Australia and through the Pacific Islands to New Zealand. The genus is extremely variable. They are mostly epiphytes and lithophytes with fleshy or wiry pseudobulbous stems. Growing conditions vary from cool to warm, from considerable shade to almost full sun. So a study of the plant's natural habitat is essential
